In the book, he has proven that only one-fourth of all employees hired or promoted turn out to be “A” players. The other three-fourths (the “B” and “C” players) eventually become mis-hires and mis-promotions. The cost of a staffing mistake has been estimated at fifteen times salary and a huge financial drain on the company.
